It is the “Rematch of the Century” that everyone has been waiting for. At one win each over their last 2 meetings, Shaolin monk Yi Long and global Muay Thai icon Buakaw Banchamek will face each other for the third time to settle the score once and for all.
After months of consideration and bidding from various organizers in many countries, the venue and date for the monumental fight has now been finalized.
The fight is set to take place on the 8 October in Hong Kong at the Star Hall Kowloon International Trade & Exhibition Center.
There will be no room for controversy or any biased decisions since the two fighters will compete under MAS Fight rules. Yi Long and Buakaw will compete in a single 9-minute round with no rest, and the winning is by knockout only. In the event where there is no knockout, the fight will be declared as a draw.
With a winner-takes-all 50 million Thai baht side bet, there is a lot at stake for both camps. Buakaw is confident of a knockout victory in the rematch. On the stage with MAS Fight CEO Tony Chen, he says,
“Yi Long, you will be knocked out. Please prepare to go to the hospital.”
Besides the highly-anticipated main event, a host of fighting superstars have also been confirmed in a stellar fight card. Some of the A-listers to look out for include K1 legend, Artur Kyshenko, kickboxing multi-time champion, Superbon Banchamek, Muay Thai phenom, Yodwicha, Chinese kickboxing hero, Qiu Jianliang and MMA extraordinaire, Rodrigo Caporal.
Ticketing details will be announced as soon as it goes live.
